Coyote Arts Network (CAN) is a grassroots arts organization dedicated to making sure the children of the San Luis Valley of Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico keep art at the heart of their education. CAN's mission is to foster the creative process, including education in the visual, performing, and literary arts. We currently serve the children of Rio Costilla Elementary School located in Costilla, New Mexico. Because so many arts programs are currently being cut from public schools due to funding shortages, especially in rural, economically-depressed areas such as the San Luis Valley, the need for organizations like CAN is vital. Part of the mission of CAN includes consultation with other arts organizations and schools to make sure our children get the arts education they need for healthy minds, bodies, and spirits. Artists Henry Woolbert and Linda Louden serve as co-directors and primary teachers of CAN. In the 2009-2010 school year, they sponsored guest artists and teachers to present story-telling, ceramics, painting, drawing, pop-up card design, print-making, and drama, including a production of a play entitled "How the Children Saved Christmas." Please enjoy our website. We look forward to hearing from you. |
